Create Area (1.3)
+AREA
create area
Creates an area class, a material zone, described as a mesh, trimmed surface, or closed curve.
INPUTS
geometry : plan area as defined as a flat closed curve or trimmed surface
dist_tol : distance tolerance for creating a mesh - default .01
edge_tol : edge tolerance for creating a mesh - default 5
layer : name of the layer the area should be part of
color : area color
OUTPUTS
<A> : Area Instance
mesh : flat meshes
Designing a site often involves defining the material areas to delineate uses and functionality. This process in now made easy, while also combining 2D and 3D site material areas, using the Create Areas component! Using the Geometry Pipeline with the Object Details components, you can feed your Areas, in the form of surfaces, into the component to define the Areas by the size and shape of those surfaces, their layers and their colors. This information is embedded into a unique data set called Areas which can ultimately be formed to your topographic model to generate neatly defined 2D or 3D material Areas across your site. Again, this takes place live (if using the Geometry Pipeline component) meaning your can adjust or manipulate your Areas surfaces and see the changes automatically updated on your model! This will ultimately be processed through the Collage Areas component or directly into the Draw Areas component to generate your 3D Areas.
