Create Paths with Variable Slope

Creates path from centerline, topo mesh, and slope range.

INPUTS

  • centerline : Centerline of the path in plan; flat

  • width : Width of path. Default >> 10.0ft

  • slope min : Minimum percent slope of the path. Default = 1.0

  • slope max : Maximum percent slope of the path. Default = 4.99

  • topo mesh : Topo mesh of a pre-existing grading condition to adjust towards.

  • smoothing : Amount to smooth or simplify the existing grading between 0 and 1. Default = .5

OUTPUTS

  • <P> : Path instance

  • elevated centerline : newly elevated centerline of the path.

Pesky hillside grading frustrating you? Stop what you are doing and try the Create Path: Variable Path tool!

With the input of your topographic mesh, you can now define the center line of your path, its width, the maximum slope and the minimum slope then watch this component solve your grading for you. The adaptive approach attempts to minimize grading along the path by using the maximum slope only when necessary, meaning the existing slopes are too steep, and defaulting to the minimum slope when less grading is necessary, or when the ground is flatter. You have control over the ranges of slopes allowing you to tailor your path to the needs of your project. With a little bit of smoothing, you can achieve a well graded path that is ready to be input into a new Create Topo component and can be changed quickly and efficiently at any moment!
